Apples

Pristine

These apples are a green-yellow color with an orange blush. Pristine’s are round to oblate round shaped. They are full of a mildly acid to sweet, slightly spicy flavor and have a crisp finish.

Jonafree

This is a red apple with a yellowish-green background color and the texture is fine and tender, yet with a nice crisp.

William Pride

This apple had a lime green to pale yellow undertone that is 70-99% striped medium red. The size is medium to large and it has a round to conic shape. William’s Pride apples have a crisp flesh that is full of a rich, juicy flavor.

Gala

A cross between Golden Delicious and Kidd’s Orange Red. Their size ranges between medium to small and most Gala apples are round to oblong shaped, and are occasionally ribbed. The skin is a golden yellow with a reddish blush. This is an apple rated very good to best, depending on the growing area. The soil in our organic orchards aid in the delicious flavor!

Honeycrisp

This apple is a cross between a Macaun and Honeygold. The skin of the Honeycrisp is 2/3 red with a yellow background. These are usually a medium in size and have a mildly aromatic and juicy flavor.

Red Jonagold

These apples are a cross between Golden Delicious and Jonathan apples. They tend to be large in size with a sweet-tart flavor.

Sommerfeld

This apple is yellow to green in color, with a red blush. Sommerfeld apples are large with a well balanced and sweet taste. They are firm, crisp and juicy.

Liberty

The Liberty apple is a cross between the Macan and the Purdue. The size of a Liberty depends on the thinning of the trees, but it is usually medium to medium-small. Its shape is usually round and the color of the skin is about 90% blushed with a green or yellow ground color. The texture is crisp, somewhat tart, but a refereshing apple. The quality rating for this apple is very good.

Pinova

Bred in Germany, these apples have a yellow undertone and a red blush covering about 90% of the fruit. These apples are sweet, even with their tough skin.

Empire

The Empire apple is a cross between a Macintosh and a Red Delicious. The size of this apple is usually medium, but it can be on the smaller side and they have a round to round-conic fruit. Empire’s have a deep red flush with a yellow underside. This variety of apple is sweet, crisp, and very tasty!

Jonagold

Golden Delicious and Jonathan make up this unique apple variety. Jonagold’s are usually large to very large in size. The skin has a yellow background with a pink to red blush and at times, it can vary with stripes. Most people regard this as a sweet apple, but sometimes it can be tart too. Enjoy!

Golden Delicious

These apples are a cross between Grimes Golden and Golden Reinette. The size of a Golden Delicious is medium to medium large, while its shape is conical. The flavor is sweet and spritely, while the quality is very good to best!

Blushing Golden

These apples are yellow and green in color, with a red blush that covers 50-60% of the body. A real beauty! The flavor is a bit tangier than a Golden Delicious.

Enterprise

Rich and delicious in flavor, these apples are firm and crisp, with a breaking flesh. They tend to be oblong in shape, with green to yellow undertones and medium red blush.

Golden Russet

Were you thinking potato? Think again. This heritage apple is perfect for cider and dates back to the 18th century. A hearty apple, the Golden Russet has a smooth texture and is full of sweet juice. Go get your press out!

Sweet Orin

A delicacy in Japan, it is custom to cut and share these apples after eating with loved ones. The Sweet Orin has a unique pear-like flavor and is an oblong shaped apple. It is green to yellow in color, with a thick, protective skin.

Newtown

This apple is often called Newton Pippin, Yellow Newton or Albemarle Pippin. This is an apple that appeared by chance, due to a seedling. It is green in color with russet rays covering 60% of its skin. The flavor is piney and delightful. This is a great apple to use in a variety of ways, including dessert, baking and for fresh eating.

Red Delicious

It is unknown where this apple originated from and from what other apple varieties. Red Delicious apples are completely red with dark red stripes, before they are ripe. They have a sweet, but rather bland taste with a firm texture. The apple size ranges between small to large and the shape is categorized as unusual.

Fuji

This is a cross between Red Delicious and Ralls Janet apples. This is a medium sized apple, but it can be small or a medium-large. Fuji’s are round in shape and the color varies, but usually has pink and purple stripes over a green background. It has a very sweet, appealing taste, but it tastes even better, if the sugar content is high.

Braeburn

This apple was originally grown in New Zealand then brought to the United States in 1980. Braeburn’s are generally a medium sized apple, but they can be on the small side, if trees aren’t thinned. They have a conic to round conic shape and their color is a green with undertones of a red blush or red stripes. This is a firm, slightly coarse, and heavier apple with a balanced flavor.

Granny Smith

Granny Smith Apples derive from the French Crab apple variety. This is a medium to medium-large apple that has a bright green skin with an occasional brownish-red flush. This variety is round-conic to round in shape. Granny Smith apples have a tart taste that will sweeten with time and the texture is firm and juicy with a tough skin. Occasionally, this variety does have bitter pit.
